Coming Back to Blogging

I’ve come back to blogging.

When I had been at my first (diaryland!) blog for a month or so, way back in the day (2002!), it occurred to me one day to look into getting www.worldempress.com. Sadly, I discovered that I was a matter of days too late. Someone else had registered it and wanted 700 euros for the domain.

I don’t think they ever did anything with the domain — just speculated for years.

But I have not ever been in a position to spend 700 euros on a hobby, and suspect that even if I had been, I couldn’t justify the expense.

So then, recently, since I quit my last blog, I was ego-surfing and one of google’s results for ‘worldempress’ was one of those sites that lists recently dropped domain names (mentioning worldempress.com). So I raced over to 1&1, and registered it for $6 or whatever their rate is these days.

I exhulted for a day before I asked myself, “what exactly do you plan to do with this domain?” And I concluded that clearly, I was going to have to blog again.

So, we’ll see. I expect to blog still sporadically. The kitten doesn’t like for me to spend more than five minutes paying attention to that which is not her. And I still have a lot of other projects that I would like to give my time to.

The Kitten Expecting Her Due

The problem with the last blog I suppose, is that I get kind of depressed, or lonely, and then blogging seems like shouting into a void. A lonely person sometimes goes to their blog, hoping to connect. And, you know, connections, via one’s blog are so spotty.

I have found it very therapeutic to Not Blog. The transition was easier than I thought it would be, and I have been putting more effort into having a real-life social life. I think I’m feeling more grounded than I have in months. But, of course, being home with a baby leaves one excessively vulnerable to loneliness.

But Hannah is already showing signs of impatience. It’s probably nap time.
